I pray you have a very blessed and grace-filled Holy Week, and glorious Easter Sunday and Eastertide!
Please join us at St. Paul's for our Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Light snacking will be interspersed throughout a beautiful liturgy celebrating the institution by Jesus at the Last Supper of the Holy Eucharist.
This will include the simple ceremony of the Washing of Feet, a procession with the reserved Sacrament to the Altar of Repose (symbolic of the Garden of Gethsemani), the Stripping of the Altar and Sanctuary (to remember Christ being stripped of clothing) and a time of silent Vigil before the Blessed Sacrament until midnight.
Good Friday service begins at 7 p.m. with prayers for the church and world, the veneration of the burial shroud of Jesus, and the anointing of the Cross and Icon of Jesus with the holy oils.
The Great Vigil of Easter begins Saturday at 9 p.m. We are pleased to have the young acolytes from St. John's La Verne with us again this year with their youth minister Jana Milhous-Martin, and associate priest Fr. Barrett Van Buren who will concelebrate the Eucharist. Our Deacon, Dennis, will carry in the Paschal Candle and chant the Exultet. Please bring a favorite dessert to the table in the lady chapel before the Vigil Mass, or if it needs to be refrigerated, please take it to the kitchen. We ask for help to clean up after the service.
Easter Sunday will be the Annual Bilingual Easter Mass at 11 a.m. Please note that the Daily Bulletin misprinted our time as 10 a.m. After the 11 a.m. Mass we will hold an egg hunt for the children in the courtyard. Please remember to bring a lily for Jesus!
Blessings to all!
