Holy Week

Dear Parish Family,

I pray you all have a very blessed Holy Week and Easter.  I hope you can attend the Triduum, which are the 3 key services of Holy Week:

1). Maundy Thursday (tomorrow night) at 7, when we will celebrate the Lord's last night with the washing of feet, the sacred meal, and the Watch with him in the Garden of Gethsemani;  2). Good Friday, 7 p.m., when we venerate the burial shroud of Jesus; 3). The Great Vigil of Easter, THE liturgical service of the year, 8 p.m., with the lighting of the new fire and the proclamation of Easter.

For Maundy Thursday, we will not have the meal (soup) course this year, but will have middle-eastern style hors d'oeuvres at the tables.  So you may want to have dinner first.  The service will be shorter this year than in the past.  We will have the Watch from the time the service ends, until 11 p.m.

For Good Friday, The Rev. Gene Wallace will lead the service, as I am leading a wake that evening for a friend who died.

For the Great Vigil on Saturday, The Rev. Deacon Barrett Van Buren of St. John's La Verne will be the Deacon for the Eucharist and some of the Youth Group will help serve the Mass.  Remember to bring your favorite dessert for a celebration of the Resurrection after the Vigil Mass.

For Easter Sunday, if you weren't at the Vigil, please bring a dessert for Sunday.  The Easter Egg Hunt for the children will happen at 11:15 a.m.  The Spanish Mass begins at 12 noon with an Easter Egg Hunt following that Mass.

Blessings, to all!  Please come and PLEASE, bring a friend!
